Planning our future ahead was important for us. We didn’t want to reach a point where big decisions had to be made in a rush. Staying close to our doctors, friends and family was essential, and The Henry allowed us to keep all those connections. As a couple, we were also very conscious of the problems that arise when partnerships end through ill health or death. It was very important to us to know that the remaining partner could continue to live in a familiar and caring environment. The move was far easier than we expected. We settled quickly and haven’t once missed our large house or garden. What really stands out is the sense of community, neighbours here genuinely support one another. When a friend went to hospital, we even joined with other neighbours in looking after her dog. It’s that kind of place. We are now registering for care services as a proactive step, and we love the convenience of nearby shops and transport. The Henry truly feels like home.

Moving to The Henry was the best decision I’ve made. The apartment is modern and easy to live in, and the accessible bathroom has already proven its value. I feel safe and supported, with neighbours who genuinely look out for one another. The straightforward fee structure, without the complicated costs that I saw elsewhere, also gave me real peace of mind.

My apartment is bright, new and completely low-maintenance, which is exactly what I needed after leaving a large home behind. The community and staff are friendly and there are lots of activities for us to engage in if we want to. What really made the difference for me was the clear fee structure. After dealing with confusing, bidding style fees at one of the other villages I looked at, The Henry’s transparency was a breath of fresh air.

Planning ahead mattered to us. We wanted to make thoughtful decisions while we still had the freedom to choose, rather than being rushed later on. Moving early meant we could secure the home we truly wanted - a northeast corner apartment, instead of settling for what might be available down the track. That peace of mind alone was worth it. One of the things that really gave us confidence was The Henry’s License to Occupy model. While some people may have reservations about it, for us knowing the owner remains invested in the long-term quality of the building, and that our estate won’t be burdened with the stress and expense of a future private sale, gave us enormous confidence. Our weekly fee feels like a fair contribution to services, much like the rates and insurance we once paid as homeowners, not rent. The move itself took several months and was emotionally challenging at times. Downsizing forces you to reflect on a lifetime of memories. Throughout it all, The Henry team was incredibly supportive, even allowing us to move in before our previous home had settled. What surprised us the most was the feeling once we arrived. The sense of relief was immediate. The warmth of the community, genuine connection and support and the overall “wow” factor exceeded anything we had expected. Our experience has been so positive that several friends have since started exploring retirement living themselves. We truly feel we made the right decision, at the right time.

We absolutely love the people here! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. The staff are lovely, relaxed, and inviting, which makes The Henry feel so different from other places we’ve seen. The residents really contribute to the strong sense of community, and it’s something we immediately noticed when we arrived. We were also drawn to The Henry because of the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful views of the nearby parklands. Our lifestyle has changed for the better since moving here, as we do more walking and exercise than before. There’s always something to do, whether it’s yoga, walking groups, or happy hour at The Clubhouse. We are so happy with our apartment and feel truly at home in our new environment.

Although we looked at other retirement villages, we found The Henry suited our needs the best. It is situated in the old Higgins Primary School site, close to public transport and shops. Why was this? We found that The Henry had a lovely feel to it. As well as the residents of the village, you find people of similar age from the surrounding suburbs attending some of the activities at the Club House. You also find the staff very helpful and always greeting residents with a smile, and addressing them using their first name. To sum up The Henry in four words, ‘What a great find.’

When we first visited The Henry, our son immediately said, “this is the one”. And since then there was no looking back. Our move has been quite smooth, and we have happily settled in. The Henry team have also been very helpful and lovely.

My experience of moving into The Henry's new and quiet apartment complex has been excellent. I was warmly welcomed by staff and existing townhouse residents. I moved into a smartly designed building of ‘adaptable housing’ spacious and well laid out high quality apartments placed against a bird-singing treed backdrop . I can age in place with support from 'The Butler’ household assistance service, based here in the village, as I become less able. That is why I chose to move here. Our apartments are designed to be able to accommodate extra aging support equipment as needed. I’m learning some of what the village has to offer - exercise classes, the gym, demonstrations, craft groups, chat groups, cafe facilities, film viewings, medical consultation rooms and an excellent handyman service - all organised with the assistance of the committed staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It’s with the assistance of management, staff and existing residents that I’ve been able to move in to my apartment and feel positive about the beginning of my new experience of aging in place at The Henry. I’m very happy with my decision and my new home.
